So the goal of this blog was to help me practice writing quickly and frequently…and…yeah…this hasn’t happened in the past ten days or so. That was fast break on the New Year’s Resolution! <shrugs> But I’m not giving up!
So instead of wasting my first ten minutes trying to think of an insightful topic today, I’m just going to give a quick recap of an exciting week so far…
Highlights include:
- B’s first day back to school. I have NEVER seen anyone so excited about anything. To her, it was better than Christmas or a vacation. She had the BEST first day, and I’m so glad we made the decision (and had the option!) to get her back in person. (Trying to reconfigure the morning routine is a big part of why writing flew out the window so fast. I apparently need to get up a LOT earlier now.)
- B also lost her second tooth! This happened the night before the first day of school, so excitement was amplified. The toothfairy left her three whole dollars! (I personally think the toothfairy is a little cheap…but we pick our battles. ?)
- I was able to book my parents an appointment for their first dose of the Covid vaccine through the county health department yesterday. This felt like a MAJOR victory, and I will breathe a HUGE sigh of relief once they actually GET the shot tomorrow. I sat in front of the computer hitting “refresh” and periodically retyping the url out of paranoia for almost two straight hours, and suddenly, the appointment booker came up. The REAL miracle is that I was able to complete the process twice and make TWO SEPARATE appointments…one for each parent. After checking out Facebook later in the day, I learned how many people (mostly teachers) WEREN’T able to book an appointment because the supply of vaccines coming in is still at a trickle. Made me feel like I accomplished a small miracle!
I don’t always plan to make this blog a diary, it IS personal, and I’d be crazy not to include the highlights I want to remember once in a while! This has been a really special week. ?
