It’s amazing how much time has gone by since my last blog post. It was (relatively) easy to write when R was smaller…he slept easily and almost anywhere! Then once he slipped into a nap rhythm, it paradoxically became MORE difficult. He’s a great sleeper at night, but naps are more difficult for him, and a lot of soothing is necessary before and during the nap. And with three naps and a bedtime…it adds up. And there are always two eager little girls just waiting for me as soon as I come out of the bedroom.
We’ve had a great summer. We crammed a lot of fun in for a family with a baby! Boating, a couple of beach days, varying playgrounds, some outdoor parties, and lots of pool time. As of Friday, all three of my kids were exhausted from the late-August fun, and so we had a quiet weekend. School starts today, and as much as it pulls on my heartstrings that summer is officially over, I welcome the return to routine. (This is why I am happily up at 5am, trying to get my morning alone time back once again. We will see how long this lasts.)
September promises to be full. I’ve got a little over a month left on my maternity leave. W starts preschool on Wednesday. We have a vacation planned…6 days in Hocking Hills, Ohio. A wedding. Two birthdays…Don’s and my Dad’s. Our 11th anniversary, and my parent’s 51st. The St. Hubert’s Festival, which we look forward to every year. Doctors appointments, dentist appointments, haircuts, and volunteer days at school.
Here we go!
