Okay…I learned something new. How to backdate a blog post. And future date. Woohoo! ? This is obviously not the goal, but I did write at least a LITTLE last week, but ran out of time to actually click “post” because all of this is not natural to me quite yet. It’s amazing how satisfying it feels to learn a tiny new skill, even if it’s just backdating a blog post. When I literally have to google EVERYTHING because it all feels foreign, getting something to work feels like a HUGE win. Anyway…
Morning is my fave time. I’m a relatively early riser, and I’ve definitely found that morning is the one time of day when I can count on getting the stuff done that *I* want to accomplish. It’s when I work out, it’s when I write (or plan to, anyway) and it’s when I THINK.
And then you throw in a routine disruption like “back to school” and all hell breaks loose.
Last week B started back to school for the first time since March, and my functioning morning routine got turned on its head. Instead of having time to walk the dogs and work out and write and get ready before I was needed…my time was cut short.
And what did I default to? My long-established OLD routine. Get up, walk, workout, get ready. Writing gets skipped because it’s not really a habit yet.
I could totally just get up earlier. I recognize this. But sleep = sanity for me, and so far, 2021 doesn’t seem like the right time to give up the latter (even if half the universe seems to be doing so, ha!) so I’ll just wait for the newness to die down and see what happens…
Here’s to being patient with ourselves while we try to learn new things and form new routines…progress over perfection!
